"In everything set an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech." Titus 2:7-8a
There is nothing quite like seeing West Side Christian School through the eyes of the custodian. I began my work at WSCS as a custodian and had the opportunity to walk the halls and see and hear first hand how our teachers and staff set an example for our students by doing what is good.
I observed integrity in the faithful teaching of the subject matter in the light of God's Word, seriousness about the mandate to make a positive impression on students, and soundness of speech in the staff's conversations with students and each other.
Throughout the book of Titus, the apostle Paul urges us to shun false teachers and devote ourselves to doing what is good in response to the kindness and love of Jesus our Savior, who saved us because of His mercy alone. The main way in which we Christian parents devote ourselves to what is good is to make a Godly impression on our children.
What an amazing blessing it is, therefore, to send our children to school each day and trust without reservation that the teachers and staff are reinforcing, or sometimes improving, the Christian influences we promote in our homes.
Christian parents and grandparents have a calling to impress the will of our Lord on our children's hearts and minds. What a privilege it is to provide our children with an eternal and imperishable gift - the gift of a Christ-centered education here at WSCS.
A custodian's eyes see a lot in the course of a day, much of it involving dust and dirt. What a blessing, then, to see Christ's love in action in every aspect of our students' school day. God's love shines in West Side Christian School's classroom just as clearly as the spring sun shines through the skylights that illuminate our hallways.
What an indelible impression!
