Middle School Academics

Consistent with our mission statement, West Side Christian School seeks to educate the whole student, thus middle school activities include not only instructional classroom time, but also opportunities for service and spiritual development, as well as athletic and academic competitions. Middle school provides a bridge from the highly structured elementary grades to the high school level and allows for a greater emphasis on independent learning and higher expectations. Six graders will have one main teacher to help guide them through that first year of middle school, while changing classrooms and teachers for a select few classes. Seventh and Eighth grade students follow a traditional schedule of seven (7) periods per day. Required courses are Bible, language arts, math, social studies, science, and two specials.

WSCS is committed to academic excellence. WSCS facilitates special teacher-to-student and student-to-student bonds while supporting a full range of classes and activities. The staff promotes personal and educational self-responsibility, knowing that freedom and the respect underlying it, are valuable in preparing students for high school and the adult world.
