Academics Preschool Stage 5 Curriculum

Stage 5 Curriculum

The Stage 5 program is a transition program between our preschool and our regular kindergarten program. Stage 5 gives children a final opportunity to develop further in the areas of maturity, social skills, listening, small motor skills, following directions, self-confidence, feeling comfortable with adults and separating from parents. Children in the Stage 5 program are given extra time to prepare for the challenges of being away from home, making new friends, and learning to do things at school. Stage 5 students learn about social skills, language development, numbers, letters and their sounds. Specials classes such as art, library, music, and physical education, will be used to help with development in preparation for kindergarten.

Stage 5 is for children whose birthday falls just before or just after the cut-off date for kindergarten.  These birthdays are usually late summer and fall birthdays.  Children are usually 5 years old when classes begin or they turn 5 shortly after classes begin.  To qualify, a child must be 5 by January 1.
