FAQ's

The Christian school is an extension of the Christian home. Parents who want their children to know about God and what it means to serve Him, will want their children to be reinforced from a Christian perspective in every way possible, including at a Christian school. West Side Christian School supports and strengthens the spiritual priorities of your home and church. At WSCS, we encourage your child to develop the unique gifts that God has given him or her. We strive to prepare your child for Christian life and leadership in his or her community.

  • Are all your teachers credentialed?
    Yes, all of our teachers are required to have Michigan certification. They are qualified, quality teachers.
  • What qualities do you consider important in your teachers?
    First, that they love God and that this love is demonstrated in their speech and actions. Second, we value the love our teachers have for children. They are genuinely concerned about our students' hearts and minds. Finally, we appreciate the passion our teachers have for their subject areas and their love of teaching. Our teachers desire to teach in a Christian school where they integrate life and learning.
  • Where are you located?
    West Side Christian School is located in a quiet neighborhood in Walker. We are just west of the intersection of Covell and Leonard. Our address is 955 Westend Dr NW.
  • What are you class sizes?
    Our average class size is 23.
  • What do you offer to develop the student's artistic abilities?
    Music - We have a full-time music teacher. General music is offered for grades K-5. Recorders are introduced in grade 4, and band in grade 5. Middle school students have the option of participating in choir and band.
    Art - Art classes are offered for students in Young 5's- 8th grade.
    Musicals, concerts, and programs - Programs are presented by different grade levels throughout the year.
  • What other special offerings are available?
    Students in all grade levels participate weekly in special classes such as physical education, Spanish, library, and technology classes. Many extra-curricular activities are also available in both academics and athletics like our science fair and our 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
  • What is your admission policy?
    WSCS wants parents to send their children to WSCS because the parents are committed Christians, belong to a Christian church and want a Christian education for their children.
  • What is your discipline policy?
    WSCS expects its students to be Christ-like in their relationships with fellow students and adults. The school has written guidelines for acceptable behavior and steps that can be used to assist and help correct unacceptable behavior.
  • How many churches are represented in your student body?
    As least 50 different churches are represented at WSCS.
  • Does your school have extended care?

  • Are there any test requirements for enrolling at West Side Christian?
    New students who enroll at WSCS in grades K-3 are tested for the purpose of academic placement and to assist the child best with our academic programs.
  • Are books included in the tuition?
    Yes, books are included in tuition.
